Mulling Spice is a delicious custom blend of premium quality herbs, dried fruits and spices - one of our best sellers during the fall and winter months. Make and serve your own hot mulled wine or delicious hot apple cider to your friends. Or create a wonderfully spiced aroma throughout your home, by putting some mulling spices in a pot of hot water on your stove. Original Mulling Spices are also available in Organic; and, the smaller 1.5 oz size comes conveniently packaged with a culinary bag made from virgin (unbleached) cotton fabric.

Ingredients:

Original Mulling Spices: Orange peel, cinnamon, cloves, and allspice.

Original Organic Mulling Spices: Organic orange peel, organic cinnamon, organic cloves and organic allspice.

 

  • Cinnamon – may be an anti-inflammatory and aid with glycemic control.
  • Allspice  may be antimicrobial, an analgesic, and lower blood pressure. Extracts of allspice have demonstrated anti-tumor properties in cells. It is also used in alternative medicine as a treatment for gastrointestinal (GI) issues.
  • Cloves – clove oil is an analgesic and exhibits potent antimicrobial activity. Some research suggests that clove extracts may help reduce stress, inhibit tumor growth, and prevent cell deat
  • Orange peel  may be useful for preventing high blood pressure and stroke.

Health Considerations

Spices can have many wonderful health benefits when used as a flavorful addition to favorite foods and beverages. However, excessive consumption can lead to adverse health risks in some people. Additionally, spices can interact with some medications, so it is important to consult your doctor before using spices medicinally.

 

Directions: Combine all ingredients and heat to just below boiling point. Reduce heat, cover pot and simmer for thirty minutes.
Hot Spiced Cider: 1 quart apple cider or fruit juice (cranberry or orange juice); 1/2 ounce  Mulling Spices (in culinary bag); Cinnamon stick (6"). Variations: Add 1oz. Of brandy or rum.
Hot Mulled Wine: 1 quart port or red wine; 1/2 oz. Mulling Spices (in culinary bag); 1/2 cup fresh squeezed orange juice; 1/8 cup brown sugar; Cinnamon Stick (6").
