Artist Caitlin McCarthy depicts the Earth Mother, Greek Goddess Gaia.

Born at the dawn of creation, Gaia is the mother of all in creation. She birthed the Heavenly Gods, the Sea Gods, the Giants and bore mortals directly from her flesh. All notable Gods and Goddesses are descended from Gaia. Her name Gaea/Gaia dates before Greek civilization, but regardless of language, always means Earth. She was the first of the Immortals, and from her came the heavens, the earth and the waters that make up Earth. 

She is both represented by and connected to the Earth and the life giving properties therein. Always in imagery she is shown connected to the Earth, frequently with flowers and plants woven about or upon her. Here she is shown with skin and hair of the Earth and an image of our planet hovers over her breast. She is associated with Agates of all kinds.
